This project consisted of selective demolition and rehabilitation of the Rockaway Valley Regional Sewer Authority’s existing Siphon Inlet Chamber downstream from a manhole located in Canalside Park, within the Town of Boonton. The work also included the construction of new 30-inch diameter PVC bypass piping around the Siphon Inlet Chamber such that through the use of wet tapping and line stopping, a bypass of sewage flow was achieved without the use of temporary bypass pumping. The temporary bypass brought flow from upstream manhole to the new taps along the RVRSA's "twin" 24-inch/30-inch diameter inverted sewer (siphon) barrels downstream of the inlet chamber. The existing siphons continue to bring the redirected flow to the 48-inch diameter gravity interceptor that the siphon barrels outlet to, located along Washington Street and Monroe Street in Boonton Town.
Demolition and removal of RVRSA's existing Siphon Outlet Chamber, downstream manhole, and approximately 131-feet of existing 48-inch diameter deteriorated RCP sewer. The work included the replacement of these same facilities with a new precast concrete siphon outlet chamber, approximately 131-feet of new 48-inch diameter CCFRPM pipe, and a custom CCFRPM pipe fitting with a new fiber reinforced plastic manhole riser and appurtenances.
