South Osborne Road Replacement

PROJECT details

Client: Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission (WSSC Water)

Location: South Osborne Road, Upper Marlboro, MD

Capabilities: Replacement

Services: Lead Service Line Replacement (LSLR)

  • The South Osborne Road project involves the replacement of approximately 3.66 miles of water mains and house connections up to the property line. The existing pipes, which were installed in the 1960s and 1990s, are approaching the end of their service life. The new water mains will be constructed from zinc-coated ductile iron, wrapped in a protective coating, and have a life expectancy of at least 100 years. This upgrade is intended to reduce the frequency of water main breaks and the associated disruptions. The installation of the new water mains will occur within roadways, and new house connections will be established up to the property line. WSSC Water is coordinating with local and state agencies, as well as other utilities, to prevent conflicts and minimize disturbances to the surrounding neighborhoods.
